ADHD
ADHD is a special subset of the population characterized by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Typically speaking, a school setting is not the only place this is/should be diagnosed. People must exhibit the symptoms in two or more settings in order to be diagnosed. ADHD is distinguished from ADD by hyperactivity and impulsivity so here is a little more information about those two symptoms. Hyperactivity may be manifested through fidgeting, leaving his/her seat often, excessive talking and other ways. Impulsivity may include blurting out answers before questions have been completed, difficulty taking turns, interruptions, and other ways. It should be noted that ADD and ADHD are very often misdiagnosed.

Assignment 5:
In my opinion, these alterations are a product of nature than evolution. I think that we are the way we are because we are original and unique. We can't all be the same and have the same interest or the same weakness or strength. That's why when you are born with LD, ADHD or Asperguer or autism doesn't mean that you are going to suffer in life. Maybe this is the way they were supposed to be born. Because their weakness could be our strength and their strength could our weakness. For example, people that are born with asperguer their biggest weakness are lack of social skills. But, they could have a strong strength in a different area. We are all balance, that's why we all have a weakness and strength. Besides every generation is so different and we are all changing and adapting to every society and to every life styles. We should never despise these people because they are trying their best in life to succeed. And that makes us think and appreciate life more. Because if they are trying their best we should take their example and do the same thing.

Assignment 7:
Grade Level: First Grade
Age: 6-7 year old students
Number of students: 19 (17 ESL and 2 English speakers)
Activity 1
The storyboard of Humpty Dumpty
I told my students that today we were going to ‘’make a movie’’. That they were going to become filmmakers and plan their films. A gave my students a sheet of 8 x 11. They need to fold the paper into sixths, first in half horizontally and then in thirds.
My target audience is mainly students who use English as their second language. My first grade students write very simple sentences and I wanted them to write more descriptive words. I considered Bloom’s taxonomy. So that’s why I implemented this activity because my students are very artistic.
I told my students to remember the nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty” and I told them that it never says whether Humpty is male or female. Since they are filmmakers, they can decide all the details of the story. The first frame they have to draw the setting- where they want the story to take place, season and time of the day. Write the details that they have chosen. Frame 2 they have to focus on motivation. How he/she is feeling. Frame 3 should show the action or explain the causes what causes the fall. Frame 4 is the rescue mission or where Humpty ended up as a result of the fall. Frame 5 and 6 they have to complete the story. While I was walking around the class I could see that my students drawings were very creative. I was very surprised. The details from the drawings were very colorful. The settings that they used were so unique. None of them had the same settings. Some settings were at the desert, ocean, forest, or a simple wall, etc. My students were very much engaged with this activity. They were so engaged that they didn’t want the activity to end. Next time I will put a time limit because some of my students love to make a lot of details that they took a lot of time to go to the next frame.

Activity 2
Novice/Expert Activity
In this activity I modified it and integrated it with the unit of inquiry we are working on. ‘Toys and games and how they have changed’. According to Baum “this activity is designed to help you consider what happens when children are allow to think, communicate, and learn in a manner that is aligned with their unique profile of intelligence’’.
I decided to put them in 4 groups of 5 and one group of 4.

I started this activity by giving the assignments depending on their less comfort zone
Writers: Cayetano, Nina, Romina, Thomas, Blas
Builders: Nicole, Ana Carolina, Mateo, Gonzalo, Joaquin L.
Actors: Luke, Ashley, Oscar, Sofia, Joaquin V.
Drawers: Enrique, Carson, Marcos Tunc, Eduardo

Activity 1 Explain “How toys and games changed over time”. The builders had to build the same toy now and then. Actors had to performed how they used to play a game and how it is played now and the last assignment drawers had to draw the same toy now and then.
I asked them to show the class their product.
I did this activity again a couple of days after but this time I assigned them in their comfort group.
MY GOUPS BY STRENGHTS
GOOD Writers: Gonzalo, Ashley, Enrique, Mateo, Joaquin V.
GOOD Builders: Oscar, Luke, Eduardo, Mateo, Joaquin L.
GOOD Actors: Ana Carolina, Marcos Tunc, Romina, Carson
GOOD Drawers: Nina, Blas, Ashley, Sofia, Cayetano

My first group the Novice. They couldn’t explain well how the toys and games changed over time. They had no idea. The builders did really simple toys. They didn’t put details in their buildings. The actors just did the general idea and my drawers did the basic. Not much color, and very poor details. Nevertheless they try their best and I was very proud of them. I told them that.
Now my expert groups very amazing. My writers wrote a great explanation about toys and games and how they have changed over time. My builders build toys with a lot of details. My actors did a great job performing a game. My drawers did a fantastic job with the details and the colors. What a difference does it make when you group them by their strengths. Next time I do this activity, I wouldn’t change anything I really like the experience. I would improve it, but I wouldn’t change it.
